Moonlight Mystery Slots is a whodunit slot in the genre of Sherlock Holmes where you get to solve the mystery of how to unlock the Bonus Round and Free Spins. The Inspector, with his deerstalker and pipe, is trying to solve a murder with the help of his able side-kick The Doctor (he looks like Watson) and a Local Constable. There are 5 suspects, which include the mysterious Professor, the snooty Lord and Lady Dunnit, the butter wouldn't melt but probably as dirty as dishwater maid, and the odd looking butler – and you'll receive a prize for anyone you interrogate during your spins. Work out the clues and you'll also get to enjoy Jackpot Magnifying Glasses, Wild Poison Bottles, Free Spins, and the Who-Dunn-It Bonus Round.
Familiarise yourselves with a character who looks suspiciously like Sherlock Holmes when you take a trip to the back streets of Victorian England. In this game he’s called The Inspector and his sidekick, who looks remarkably like Dr. Watson is called simply The Doctor. If you are a fan of the murder mystery genre or games based on murder mysteries you will definitely want to play Moonlight Mystery Slots.
Moonlight Mystery Slots has five reels and up to fifteen pay lines and the game involves the efforts of The Inspector to solve a murder mystery in turn-of-the-century England. The backdrop to the reels is a misty and atmospheric view of a city silhouette with gaslights illuminating the proceedings.
The symbols are mainly a group of characters from the game including Colonel Dunnit, Lady Dunnit, The Maid, The Butler, The Professor, The Constable, The Doctor and The Inspector. The most valuable symbol is the magnifying glass and just two of these are necessary for a win – worth 3x your line stake. Special symbols are a bottle of poison wild and two scatters – the chalk outline of a body and a lantern – which activate the features.
However, this mystery isn't as obvious as “the butler did” it because he's the lowest paying prize icon at up to 40x your line-bet, whilst the blonde pig-tailed maid is worth up to 50x. Lady and Lord Dunnit are respectively worth 75x and 100x, whilst the Professor is worth up to 200x. There's even better prizes to be had for lining-up 3 to 5 of the good guys on the screens 5 reels and 15 pay-lines, and the Constable is worth up to 500x your line-bet, the Doctor 750x and the Inspector 1,000x. However, the top prize symbol is the Magnifying Glass which pays up to 2,000x your line-bet.
Ten free spins will be yours if you can land three of more of the lantern symbols anywhere on the reels. This is a pretty basic feature as you can see from the video above but there is an expanding wild feature. When the bottle of poison lands it will expand to fill that reel completely, paying out for any extra wins it creates. The spins can be re-triggered by landing more lanterns. There are twelve symbols in Moonlight Mystery. There are two Scatter symbols, a Wild symbol, and a Jackpot symbol. We’ll come back to those in the next section about the bonus games.
The high-value symbol is the Inspector himself. If you’re lucky to spin up five of his tiles you’ll win 1000 times your bet per pay line. The Doctor is the next highest-value character, paying 750 times your bet for five of a kind on a pay line. The Inspector raises his pipe to his lips thoughtfully when his icons form a winning combination on one or more pay lines. The Doctor furrows his brows and looks around in suspicion when his icons form a winning combination. The Constable seems to be a Good Guy too as he pays 500 times your bet for five of a kind. The Constable blows his whistle when his icons appear in a winning combination on one or more pay lines. The Professor strokes his goatee thoughtfully and glances around the room when he appears in a winning combination. Colonel Dunnit raises a monocle to his eye and takes a closer look at you before glancing around. The Maid reaches up behind her head and pulls out a large hair pin when she pays a prize. The Butler strokes his chin and glances around suspiciously when he pays a prize. Mrs. Dunnit raises her reading glasses to her eyes and looks around in bewilderment when she pays a prize.
The Bottle of Poison is the Wild symbol. It substitutes for all other symbols except the Jackpot and the Scatters. During regular play the number of Wild symbols that contribute to a prize act as a multiplier. So if you get the Inspector and two Bottle of Poison symbols on a pay line you’ll win 50 times your bet per line instead of the 25 times you would win for just having three Inspectors.
The Who Dunnit Bonus Round is the coolest part of the game. You are taken to the Dunnit’s mansion and prompted to investigate the mystery. You enter the Dunnit’s home and must choose from four doors: two at the top of the stairs and two at the bottom. When you open the door you’ll be prompted to choose one of four Crime Scene cards. After that you choose one of four Weapon cards, then one of four Culprit cards, and finally one of four Motive cards. Because this is a Pick bonus you are awarded credits for each of your choices and the credits you would have gotten from choosing any of the other cards are shown to you along with your prize. You always win something during the Who Dunnit Bonus.
This is definitely an interesting and fun game to play and you will feel like you are in an adventure yourself and not just sitting down and spinning the reels. So why don’t you start playing Moonlight Mystery Slots today!
